Felt uncanny once    London

London, 2024DESCRIPTION

Felt uncanny once emerged from a period of personal displacement and transformation during my stay in London. Moving to a new city became an experience of confronting both an unfamiliar environment and myself, bringing feelings of loneliness, uncertainty and the constant need to adapt. The tension between the desire to belong and the inability to fully fit in became the starting point for the project.

Through styling, makeup and the presence of the body within everyday spaces, I translate these internal states into images that move between recognition and unfamiliarity. The human figure becomes displaced and almost non-human, reflecting the duality between who we are and what we project, and between what feels familiar and what remains out of reach.

The project reflects on identity in transition and on the experience of feeling like a stranger, not only within a new environment, but within oneself. In this distance between the familiar and the unfamiliar, the project explores a different way of inhabiting, observing and understanding the self.
